Swinging Bridge, Illinois River
From Grants Pass take Hwy 199 west.
Twenty miles to Selma.
The Selma market at mile post 20 is our
usual meeting place
To get to the dive site, turn right off of
at the blinking yellow light,
just before the 76 station, onto Illinois
Dive site is 11.5 miles, from Hwy 199.
At the gravel pile, take the left hand road
down the hill.
Road switchbacks go down and across
Allow 1 hour for drive.
Drive with your headlights on road is narrow
Flow rates need to be around 350 for easy diving.
From Grants Pass take Redwood Hwy,
towards the coast. About 1.5 miles
from Hiouchi, turn left onto South Fork
Drive over the Nels Christensen Memorial Bridge.
This is also known as the SLANT BRIDGE.
After crossing the bridge watch for the
Forks Boat Ramp-River Access sign.
Turn right and drive on down to the parking
The trail to the river runs right along side
the river from the parking
Give yourself 1.5 to 2 hours for the drive.
From Grants Pass take HWY 199 west, drive 72
miles to Hiouchi.
The chevron station/store is usually where
we meet. To continue to the dive site
stay on HWY 199 west about two miles and
turn right onto HWY 197.
From there go 3.2 miles, just past the
golf course is Charley Drive.
Turn left onto Charley Drive
Go slow it will
turn to dirt and then river bottom. Road can get rough.
Make your way in a west direction to the
Flow rates need to be under 2000 for easy diving.
Allow 1.5 hours for the drive.
COPPER BOAT RAMP APPLEGATE LAKE
Take HWY 238 to RUCH. In Ruch turn
right onto Applegate Road.
Head towards the dam.
You will pass the dam at about
milepost 15. At 17 and 3/4 of a mile
turn left at the boat ramp sign and
follow it down to the lake.
Allow at least 1 hour for drive time.
CARBERRY CREEK, APPLEGATE LAKE
Highway 238 to RUCH, turn right onto
head toward the Applegate dam. You will pass
the dam at about mile 15.
At mile 19
the road goes over Carberry Creek and ends at a tee.
Turn right go 1/4 of a mile and park in the
gravel parking lot on the right.
Allow 1 hour for drive time.
TAKELMA BOAT RAMP, LOST CREEK LAKE
From Grants Pass, take 1-5 south to Gold
Take Hwy. 234 all the way to hwy 62.
Go north on Hwy 62 look for the Cole M. Rivers
Fish hatchery sign. Turn left go
uphill two miles.
Turn right at the oat ramp sign and continue down to the
Allow 1.5 hours for drive time.
Take Hwy 199 west out of Grants Pass to Hwy
197 North to 101 North.
At the first stoplight after 101 becomes two lanes
turn left onto Lower Harbor Road. Turn
left into the marina parking lot,
when you see ocean side diner on your right,
you are there.
Allow 2.5 hours for drive time.
